29-capped star player agrees contract to sign for Manchester United – Move close

Manchester United shot-stopper, David De Gea, started the new season with a couple of average performances before the impressive display against Liverpool.

The Red Devils need a back-up goalie after loaning out Dean Henderson and reports suggest that they are close to signing Martin Dubravka from Newcastle United.

According to an exclusive story covered by Football Insider earlier in the day, the Slovakian international has agreed a contract to sign for Manchester United.

The news source have mentioned that the move is close and the 20-time English champions are set to secure a loan-to-buy deal worth £5million.

Dubravka missed the terrible first half of the last campaign for the Magpies but mainly featured in the second half and was an important player. He made 26 starts in the league and helped the team keep 8 clean sheets.

However, back in June, the Toons completed the signing of Nick Pope from the relegated Burnley side and since then, Eddie Howe has only utilized the English goalie.

In the opening three fixtures of the new Premier League campaign, the 29-capped Slovakian has only warmed the bench.

Football Insider claim that after losing his starting place to Pope, the former Sparta Prague player is eager to move to Manchester United.

If the move is completed, Dubravka is also expected to warm the bench at Old Trafford behind David De Gea. So, perhaps the only reason he is keen to join the Red Devils is that we have agreed a lucrative contract with him.
