Arsenal are among a host of clubs interested in signing 21-year-old midfielder Matt O’Riley from Scottish champions Celtic.
The Bhoys are in the Champions League group stage, which is a competition O’Riley would not be playing in if he moved to Arsenal.
ESPN report that the Gunners could need to battle domestic rivals Liverpool and Manchester United for the signing of the midfielder.
The report says that their interest is not that advanced but a bid of £15 million could convince the Scottish side to sell this summer.
Arsenal want O’Riley
Arsenal could do with a new midfielder to top off their summer transfer business so far, with Youri Tielemans a long term target.
It seems Leicester have not been an easy to do business as might have been expected given the Belgian has one year left on his contract.
Interestingly, the Foxes are named in the report as a club who are as likely as anyone to bid for the 21-year-old before the deadline.
That could leave Arsenal open to bid for Tielemans although it seems there is plenty of work to do on both deals yet.
Simon Donnelly has praised O’Riley on Go Radio, via Football Scotland.
He said: “Credit to O’Riley – he’s had a fantastic start to his career at Celtic. I think he’s a very good footballer, very similar to Rogic.
“So a great bit of recruitment and a good headache for Ange to have.”
