Arsenal to fully reignite interest in £35m UCL superstar despite 2021 snub – As League title hope grow

Arsenal will reportedly fully reignite their interest to sign Manuel Locatelli in the January transfer window despite the midfielder snubbing the Gunners in 2021 to join Juventus from Sassuolo.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the north London side intends to pursue the Italian international 18 months after Locatelli decided to join Juventus instead of Arsenal, with the Old Lady now open to offloading the 24-year-old due to their worrying financial situation.

With Dusan Vlahovic also available for transfer, there could be a potential fire sale at Juventus in 2023, and Arsenal could now have a chance to land Locatelli after their initial interest in 2021, with central midfield a position Mikel Arteta is likely to strengthen in for the January window.

Although Locatelli is still technically on loan at Juventus from Sassuolo, the Bianconeri have an option to sign the midfielder next summer for £35m, and Arsenal could well offer the Serie A giants a similar transfer fee in January in order to sign the Euro 2020 winner.

Indeed, Arsenal could do with a midfielder of Locatelli’s mould as a long-term replacement for the likes of Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey, and with the Gunners reigniting their interest in the midfielder ahead of the January window, a surprise transfer could now be in the works.

With arsenal well in the race for the Premier League title, a quality midfielder could be the boost the Gunners need to maintain their results in the second half of the season, and signing Locatelli would be one heck of a statement from Arteta and Edu Gaspar.

Arsenal’s first ten Premier League fixtures have been nothing short of unprecedented, with Arteta leading the Gunners to their best league start in over 100 years and giving supporters belief that a title charge could be on the cards, and signing Locatelli would be a huge boost in January.

Midfield is a position where Arsenal need some extra depth, and Locatelli’s experience, age and potential price tag make the Italian one of the best options in the market for Arteta to bring in for January, with fans no doubt keen to see a the transfer..
