Arsene Wenger tells £8m Arsenal target to score more goals in meeting with Patrick Vieira

Arsenal target has been spotted enjoying an evening with Arsene Wenger and Patrick Vieira alongside Crystal Palace teammates Odsonne Edouard and Jean-Philippe Mateta.

The France Under-21 international Michael Olise is said to be a target for Mikel Arteta, according to the Daily Mail, and he was able to receive some advice from a Gunners legend – not the one who manages him on a daily basis in south London.

WENGER SHARES ADVICE WITH ARSENAL TARGET OLISE

Well, it was hardly the most complex bit of advice Olise will receive throughout his career.

In footage which emerged online, Wenger can be heard telling the 20-year-old that he “needs to score more goals” for Crystal Palace.

Olise – who cost Crystal Palace just £8m – is yet to find the back of the net in 11 appearances across all competitions this season, although he has provided two assists in his last four Premier League outings.

In fairness to the Arsenal target, he was injured at the start of the campaign, so was therefore unable to have a proper pre-season.

As a result, Olise has been playing catchup a bit in terms of fitness, although his ability is there for all to see.

In 32 appearances last term, the Crystal Palace No.7 scored four goals while also providing nine assists.

ARSENAL MUST SIGN OLISE

In our view, Arteta should have ignored a move for Raphinha and pursued Olise over the summer, as the Spaniard had a much better chance of signing the Crystal Palace wonderkid.

Despite Bukayo Saka making the right flank his own at the Emirates Stadium, Arteta is still keen to add another option to his attack in that area, so a move for Olise would make sense.

The London-born winger is yet to sign an improved contract at Selhurst Park to reflect his progress, and according to The Times, his current deal contains a release clause worth just £35m.

For a player of this potential, that is a bargain – Arteta and Edu have to explore that option before the Eagles manage to tie him down to fresh terms.
