Bid made: Arsenal tabled £25.75m bid for player Manchester City sold in January, Gunners remain…

Italian outlet CMW claim that Arsenal saw a bid worth £25.75million rejected for Barcelona attacker Ferran Torres in the summer window – just six months after he left Manchester City to join the Spaniards. The Gunners are still interested.

Torres, 22, impressed in his first six months at Barcelona – clocking up 26 appearances and having a hand in 13 goals. Scoring seven goals in those 26 games, laying on six assists. That is, despite joining Barca on the back of a broken foot.

This season, the 28-time Spain international Torres has fallen down the pecking order. Barcelona have kept Ousmane Dembele and added Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski. Torres has been afforded one start in his side’s four games.

Arsenal allowed Nicolas Pepe to go on loan to Nice towards the end of the window. He needed replacing, and it now appears the club made an offer of £25.75million to Barcelona for Torres. Barcelona spent £47million to sign Torres.

The report states that Arsenal remain interested in Torres. A move could be made in the January window regarding Torres, especially if his game time continues to worsen. However, Arsenal will face competition from AC Milan.

What a signing Torres would be for Arsenal. He is the exact type of player they need. A player that can play on the flanks, but also offers cover up top. He is proven in the Premier League, and fits Edu’s type of transfer blueprint.

.Still only 22, he has 169 appearances for Valencia, Barcelona and Manchester City under his belt. In that time, he has scored 32 goals and laid on 22 assists. He also has 28 caps for Spain, scoring 13. He has huge experience at 22.

Edu wants experienced players between the ages of 20 and 25. This summer, for example – Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira and more. Torres fits the bill, in blueprint and what they need. A January move is one to watch.
