Mikel Arteta has praised the England international Aaron Ramsdale after an ‘excellent’ performance for Arsenal in today’s 1-0 win away at Leeds United.
Arsenal headed off to West Yorkshire this afternoon for what turned out to be a bonkers game against Leeds.
The game was heavily delayed just about 10 minutes after kick off due to a power cut, but Bukayo Saka put Arsenal ahead when the match finally resumed.
Arsenal then gave away a penalty as William Saliba was penalised for handball, only for Patrick Bamford to send his spot kick wide.
Leeds thought they had won another spot kick in injury time when Bamford tangled with Gabriel Magalhaes, but VAR ruled in Arsenal’s favour with a dramatic 1-0 win secured.

That result – as ugly and as scrappy as it was – takes Arsenal to nine wins in 10 Premier League games this season.
This has been a quite remarkable start to the season for Arsenal who are winning games with beauty and finesse as much as they are with grit and determination.
Arsenal really had to dig in here with Leeds having 16 shots on the Gunners goal compared to Arsenal having just nine.
One of the key men was goalkeeper Ramsdale, who made four saves, claimed one high cross and made two clearances whilst keeping his clean sheet.
Ramsdale made a big impact for Arsenal last season but there was a period where some thought that his shot-stopping had taken a real hit.
Ramsdale has answered strongly and will surely be on the plane to Qatar with the England squad for the World Cup.
The goalkeeper was loving the post-match celebrations and has now been praised by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.
Arteta has told Sky Sports that he felt Arsenal were giving the ball away in really dangerous areas that only helped Leeds attacks.
Arteta did admit that maybe Arsenal were a little lucky in some instances but he gave big praise for goalkeeper Ramsdale, stating that he was ‘excellent’ in Arsenal’s win.
“We gave simple balls away in really dangerous areas and at times we were lucky,” said Arteta. “I think Aaron was excellent,” he added.
