Arsenal want Shakhtar Donetsk ace before the transfer deadline as they chase a new winger.
The Gunners have had the majority of their business done for weeks now, with the Arsenal rumour mill certainly slowing down of late.
Yet the search is now on for a new winger following Nicolas Pepe’s move away from the Emirates Stadium.
Pepe has joined Nice on loan for the season and Arsenal would now like to find another wide man to support Bukayo Saka down the right flank.
A move for Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Pedro Neto looks unlikely now and Arsenal could look further afield.
ARSENAL WANT MYKHAYLO MUDRYK
A new name in the mix for Arsenal is Shakhtar Donetsk ace Mykhaylo Mudryk.
Fabrizio Romano has claimed on the Here We Go podcast that Arsenal have made a first move towards signing Mudryk by asking for information about a possible deal.
Romano noted that Mudryk was close to joining Brentford this summer but could still find his way to London with Arsenal now keen.
“I’m told that they are asking for information on a super-talented guy playing for Shakhtar, Mudryk is his name,” said Romano. “He was really close to joining Brentford, but then some German clubs and Juventus were interested.”
“Now Arsenal are asking for information, let’s see if it becomes a negotiation because as of now, there is no talks club-to-club, Arsenal and Shakhtar,” he added.
Mudryk, 21, can play on either flank and has emerged as one of Ukrainian football’s top young talents.
Mudryk has notched two goals and 10 assists in 28 first-team games for Shakhtar, whilst he has also picked up five caps for Ukraine.
Darijo Srna – Shakhtar legend and now their director of football – put Mudryk in the same category as Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior as the top young attackers in the world, claiming Mudryk has ‘crazy potential’.
Football24 in Ukraine claim that Shakhtar want around €35million (£30million) for Mudryk, so Arsenal still need to come up with a big offer.
Mudryk will surely be attracted by the chance to play for a huge Premier League club, and the presence of Ukrainian international teammate Oleksandr Zinchenko has to appeal too.
A deal isn’t close by any means, but Mudryk could emerge as Arsenal’s top winger target ahead of the deadline.
