Gary Neville says 24-year-old ‘unhappy’ at failed Arsenal transfer after his manager’s sacked

Gary Neville has claimed that premier league star Douglas Luiz is unhappy at Aston Villa because he didn’t get a move to Arsenal in the summer, as he told Sky Sports.

The Manchester United legend was reacting to Steven Gerrard’s recent sacking at Villa and how the Englishman probably had an unhappy player in the dressing room in Luiz.

On transfer deadline day, Arsenal did put in several bids for Villa’s 24-year-old, only to be constantly knocked back for a player, at the time, whose contract had less than 12 months to run.

Well, to debunk Neville’s pretty pathetic claims, if Luiz was unhappy, then he wouldn’t have recently put pen-to-paper on a new contract in B6.

But because those in the media are so far up the backside of the top-six, they don’t know what’s happening outside of it, including Luiz signing a new ‘long-term’ contract earlier this month.

Nonetheless, this is what so-called Sky Sports expert, Gary Neville, had to say about Luiz, his recent overturned red card against Fulham and those Arsenal bids.

“I saw it on Sky Sports that it had been rescinded and I thought Steven Gerrard must be looking at that thinking ‘too little, too late’,” said Neville. “It was unusual to see that rescinded, it’s not helping Steven Gerrard now.

“Even the situation of that bid for Luiz on the last day of the transfer window. He won’t be happy about not going to Arsenal, Luiz, so he’s probably got a player that’s not happy in the dressing room.”

LUIZ PREPARING FOR BRENTFORD

After Luiz had his red card overturned from the Fulham defeat, he will be preparing himself for the visit of Brentford on Sunday, where Villa will be without a manager.

Aaron Danks is the man who will take to the Villa Park dugout, for now, and it seems as though he is already making bold changes, including dropping captain, John McGinn.

That has probably been a long time coming because the Scotland international has been out-of-form for far too long, but fans will want to see Luiz keep his place in the XI.

The Brazil international is a popular figure amongst supporters and, with the team hovering above the relegation zone, a win is needed against Thomas Frank’s men.
