Jobi McAnuff has said on Sky Sports that he thinks that Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has become a more mature player.
The Sky Sports pundit has noted that how during an Arsenal game he covering this season, Xhaka appeared to be flying in for a 50-50 challenge, but the Switzerland midfielder pulled out in the end.
The former West Ham United midfielder has suggested that in years gone by, Arsenal star Xhaka would have gone in for the challenge without considering the consequences.
PRAISE FOR ARSENAL MIDFIELDER GRANIT XHAKA
McAnuff said about Xhaka: “I did a game couple of weeks ago. There was a 50-50, and it looked like he was flying in, and he actually pulled out. So I think he is playing with a lot more maturity now.”
MORE MATURE FOOTBALLER
In our view, Granit Xhaka is a more mature player now, and Arsenal are better for it.
We have seen in previous seasons how the Swiss got sent off for silly and needless challenges.
Xhaka would often get involved in incidents and challengers that he should not bothered about.
Things appear to have changed now.
It seems that the Arsenal star is more restrained in his approach and is thinking before acting.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta seems to have given Arteta the freedom to move forward, with Thomas Partey acting as the main defensive shield in the middle of the park.
That has certainly helped Xhaka raise his game.
