‘He wants to leave’: Ian Wright claims 25-year-old Star player Arsenal seemingly keen on wants out

Ian Wright has claimed that Arsenal summer transfer target Youri Tielemans ‘wants to leave’ Leicester City.

The pressure is mounting on Brendan Rodgers at the King Power Stadium and it’s only a matter of time before he is shown the door.

Tielemans is a player in the last 12 months of his contract and there was talk of Arsenal wanting to sign the midfield technician before the closure of the 2022 summer transfer window.

If Rodgers does leave or gets sacked as expected, then could the new face in the Leicester City dugout persuade Tielemans to stay?

Either way, the situation isn’t pretty at the King Power Stadium after losing 5-2 to Brighton over the weekend, they now face Aston Villa in a pressure-cooker match for both sides on Saturday.

And Wright is seemingly sympathising with Rodgers’ situation given Leicester’s lack of investment this summer, as he also spoke about Tielemans, on Premier League Productions 05/09/22 at 2:40 pm)

“You look at Tielemans linked,” said Wright. “He probably wants to leave.

“For instance, the midfield to come through – it doesn’t seem to be together, so they can work on how they are going to play and the structure on how they are going to play. They can start building that again. But it has all fallen off.

“The players who are there that can inspire, they want to leave. It’s really a catch-22 for them.”

These are two midfielders that were on Arsenal’s summer radar – Tielemans and Douglas Luiz – but despite those late deadline day bids from the Gunners, they couldn’t secure the talents of the Aston Villa player.

There is a highly likely chance that both become free agents in less than 12 months, so can Arsenal secure both of their signatures?

The issue they now have is the fact that other teams across Europe will also be gunning for them, especially given that there is no transfer fee involved.

But a lot will also depend on whether Mikel Arteta can guide his side to the Champions League because that’s the big aim and one that will provide extra pulling power.
