Matt Turner has been speaking to CBS Sports about his Arsenal teammate Aaron Ramsdale, and he had plenty of nice things to share.
MATT TURNER STUNNED BY AARON RAMSDALE AT ARSENAL
Despite being forced to play second fiddle to the England international so far this season, the United States international has nothing but respect for his fellow glovesman.
Speaking to CBS Sports, Turner said: “Aaron brings a great calmness to the field with the ball at his feet.
“Honestly it’s amazing. To get to learn from him, see what he sees, talk through moments, he and I have developed a really great relationship over the course of these past few months. We’re looking to help each other in different ways.”
It’s great to see that the pair have clicked in north London despite technically being rivals in the Arsenal squad.
There could easily be a feeling of bitterness from Turner towards Ramsdale as he sees the £30m man start on a weekly basis in the Premier League, but clearly, there is a strong team spirit at the Emirates Stadium.
That is testament to Mikel Arteta and the environment he has created at London Colney, after making bold decisions in offloading those he deemed disruptive, such as Mesut Özil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
AARON RAMSDALE IS VITAL TO ARSENAL
We aren’t surprised to see Turner wax lyrical about Ramsdale, as the Arsenal No.1 is a vital player.
In truth, he could arguably be the most important player at the club in terms of how Arteta wants his side to play.
A technically sound goalkeeper is vital for a side keen on playing possession-based football, such as Ederson at Manchester City and Allison at Liverpool.
Turner still has a lot to learn in that respect, although by the sounds of it, he is soaking up every second of working alongside Ramsdale at London Colney.
Hopefully, the man signed from Sheffield United will be able to help Turner become more confident when playing out from the back.
