‘I don’t know’: Mikel Arteta unsure whether £58.5m Arsenal star will face Leeds United

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said that Gabriel Jesus will be assessed ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against Leeds United on the road.

The Brazil international joined the Gunners from Manchester City this summer and he has since been a fantastic acquisition with five goals and five assists from 11 outings.

The 25-year-old was rested against Bodo/Glimt after picking up a minor knock versus Liverpool and Arteta has said that his fitness will be monitored before the trip to Elland Road.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference held on Thursday evening, he told Arsenal.com: “I don’t know. Obviously he had some discomfort after the game against Liverpool.’

“That’s why we decided not to bring him today. Let’s see how he is between tomorrow and Saturday.”

Arsenal need Jesus fit and firing throughout the season

The £58.5 million-rated star has been a revelation since his move from Manchester. He has made the striker’s position his own in the Premier League with stand-out displays.

He has chipped in with nine goal contributions in the top-flight. Apart from this, he has also played a key role in several other goals with his clever movement and link-up play.

Hence, he definitely feels at home with the Gunners already. The onus is now on keeping him fit throughout the campaign such that the Gunners can offer a serious title challenge.
