‘It’s not’: Rio Ferdinand bursts out laughing after what he’s just heard about £45m Arsenal star player

Rio Ferdinand burst out laughing after he was told that Arsenal star Thomas Partey has been better than Manchester United midfielder Casemiro this season.

The Brazilian rescued a point for the Red Devils against Chelsea on Saturday, and he is slowly showing why he has been one of the best defensive midfielders in the world for a few years now. He is a world-class player and Ferdinand believes he’s levels above Partey.

Joel Beya, Stephen Howson and Ferdinand sat down on the latter’s YouTube channel to review the weekend’s games yesterday, and the Manchester United legend couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

Arsenal fan Beya decided to have his say about Casemiro as the two Manchester United legends raved about the Brazilian following his performance against Chelsea at the weekend.

When Beya claimed that Casemiro hasn’t been better than Arsenal stars Granit Xhaka and Partey, Ferdinand couldn’t contain himself. He immediately burst out laughing.

He asked: “If you’re going to play a game tomorrow and you’re going to play a holding midfielder, are you picking Partey over Casemiro?”

When Beya said yes, Ferdinand claimed: “Wow! You just keep digging, digging the grave.

“Listen, Partey is a good player, I think he’s a really good player. He’s been really good for you guys. But, we’re talking about another player (Casemiro) who’s many runs up. All I’m saying is, we’re talking about Casemiro against Partey, and I’m saying it’s not a competition.

“Your Arsenal mob will say the same, the ones who know football.”

Our View:

Casemiro and Partey are both world-class midfielders.

The Ghanaian, who joined Arsenal for £45 million in 2020 (Sky Sports), has been absolutely sensational this season. His performances have gone under the radar because of Gabriel Jesus and William Saliba’s heroics, but he’s one of the biggest reasons why the Gunners are on top of the Premier League table.

Casemiro, on the other hand, has been eased into life in England by Erik Ten Hag. His first four Premier League appearances for the Red Devils were off the bench, but his last four have all been from the start. He has been brilliant, and he could really help United get back to their best.

On their day, both Partey and Casemiro are absolutely incredible, but if you had to compare, we assume you’d lean towards the man with five Champions League medals in his pocket.
