Manchester United in talks for last minute signing – Have pushed things along with agents

Two days ago, Sport explained Manchester United and Barcelona are in discussions over a potential swap deal involving Sergiño Dest and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

This possibility has now been dismissed by Mundo Deportivo, while they also state the American could leave the Camp Nou before the window closes.

Manchester United are an option for the 21-year-old, who has already played under Erik ten Hag when the pair were at Ajax.

Xavi Hernández left the USMNT defender on the bench against Rayo Vallecano, before leaving him out of the squad for the last two matches. This situation has seen his representatives try to take him away from the Blaugrana.

It’s claimed Manchester United ‘appear as a possible and almost only exit option’ for Dest and he is attracted to joining them. In the last few hours, his agents have ‘expedited talks’ with the Premier League side over a potential move to Old Trafford.

At the moment, there are no negotiations between the two clubs, but his agents are in contact with both sides.

Barcelona wanted €20m for the fullback, yet it seems unlikely they will be able to collect this amount. Therefore, Mundo state a loan deal is the ‘most likely solution’.

Having been left out of Xavi’s plans, Barcelona hope to find a solution for Dest, even if it means sending him out on a temporary transfer.
