Mexican national team head coach Tata Martinez has named his 29-player squad for the decisive March World Cup qualifiers, with Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Raul Jimenez and Napoli’s Hirving Lozano headlining the attack.
El Tri is set to host North American rivals United States at the historic Azteca stadium to kick off the series on March 24, before traveling to Honduras and returning home to play El Salvador.
Mexico currently stands in third place on the Concacaf table with 21 points in 11 games, trailing behind the USMNT and Canada.
As it stands, Mexico would qualify directly into the international tournament. The top three nationals earn a ticket to the World Cup, with fourth place must face an undetermined team from Asia’s bracket to qualify.
Major League Soccer’s Julian Araujo is back for El Tri after a great showing during the last round of qualifiers. Andres Guardado and Rogelio Funes Mori are notably missing from the roster due to injuries.
