Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Mikel Arteta has been discussing Arsene Wenger potentially returning to Arsenal one day.
The Frenchman mentioned earlier this week at David Dein’s book launch that he hasn’t been back to Arsenal since his departure in 2018,
but Arteta has given out an open invitation for Wenger to make a return to north London whenever he wants.
In fact, Arteta says that he would love to see Wenger back at Arsenal, claiming that every door and every window is open for the Gunners legend.
WHAT’S BEEN SAID?
Arteta spoke about Wenger coming back to Arsenal.
“I would love to. I think he has explained it. He has every door and every window in this football club open whenever he is ready and whenever he feels that it is the right time to do it.
He knows that from my side and from many other people within the football club. Hopefully that will happen soon because I think he would inspire a lot of people and we would be so happy to see him,” Arteta said.
WHENEVER HE’S READY
Wenger is an Arsenal legend, and while he may never work full-time for the club again, it would be a real shame if he never came back to Arsenal for a visit.
Wenger still has a lot of knowledge to impart on this squad and this club, and his influence behind the scenes – however small it may be, could help the Gunners.
While Mikel Arteta is a talented manager, he doesn’t have anywhere near as much experience as Wenger, and having the Frenchman around as something of a mentor would surely help him.
The ball is in Wenger’s court and we’re sure he’ll return to Arsenal whenever he’s ready.
