‘Not Martinelli’: Bukayo Saka gushes over £20m Arsenal teammate

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has described his Gunners teammate Takehiro Tomiyasu as a “machine” on Instagram after the match against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League this past weekend.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal got the better of Liverpool 3-2 in North London.

Takehiro Tomiyasu started at left-back despite Arteta being able to call upon Kieran Tierney.

Scotland international defender Tierney is a left-back by trade, while Tomiyasu can play as a centre-back or as a right-back.

However, it was the Japan international who started at left-back for Arsenal against Liverpool.

And he was brilliant.

The 23-year-old kept Mohamed Salah quiet and did not allow the Egypt international to play his natural game.

BUKAYO SAKA ON ARSENAL TEAMMATE TAKEHIRO TOMIYASU

In our view, Takehiro Tomiyasu is a very good player who is an important figure in the Arsenal team.

The 23-year-old has had injury problems of late, and that has affected his progress at Arsenal.

Ben White is playing as a right-back for the Gunners now, and the former Leeds United loanee is doing extremely well.

It will be interesting to see if Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta plays Tomiyasu again at left-back in their next game.

If he does not, then would the Japan international replace White at right-back?

Tomiyasu joined Arsenal from Bologna in the summer of 2021 for £19.8 million (Sky Sports).
