‘Not Xhaka, not Thomas Partey’: Gabriel Martinelli names the two Arsenal players he simply loves playing alongside

Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli is receiving plenty of plaudits after his performance against Liverpool yesterday.

Martinelli scored within 60 seconds against Jurgen Klopp’s side, and laid on an assist for Bukayo Saka.

In an interview with the Evening Standard, Martinelli has said how much he loves playing with Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka.

The trio have formed one of the most lethal attacks in the Premier League this season.

Martinelli has gone from being a bit-part player under Mikel Arteta to an essential starter.

Saka’s energy and creativity have made Arsenal a lethal force from both wings.

And with Gabriel Jesus playing as an energetic number nine, Premier League defences have struggled to cope with the Gunners attacking onslaught.

It’s no surprise Martinelli loves playing with Jesus and Saka given how effective they’ve been this season.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Martinelli said: “We have a lot of time to improve, and I think we have great quality, and I think we can do more.

“(Jesus) is a great guy, not just on the pitch but off the pitch as well.

“He is always trying to help me and all the players. He is 25 but he has a lot of experience and everyone loves him.

“(Mikel Arteta) said to me, to Jesus, to Bukayo, to be the same, to be us. I think we did it and we deserved the win.”

“It’s amazing to play alongside them and I am so happy to have the opportunity to play with them.”

The trio have started every Premier League game so far this season.

They have a combined 21 goal contributions already, and will all be hoping to go to the World Cup next month.

If Arteta can keep playing with his preferred starting line-up, there’s no telling how far Arsenal could go this season.

The system he’s implemented is working brilliantly, with Martinelli, Jesus and Saka at the centre of it.
