“One final bid has gone in” – Sky Sports reporter now drops huge Arsenal transfer update tonight

Arsenal have lodged a final bid for Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz and it is ‘now or never’ for the Emirates Stadium outfit, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The Gunners have parted with close to £120million during the summer transfer window, but boss Mikel Arteta is looking to secure another fresh face ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline.

What’s the latest news involving Luiz?

Arsenal have been frustrated in their efforts to sign Luiz as, according to Sky Sports, they have had two bids rejected by Villa on deadline day.

The report suggests the Gunners have failed with proposals worth £20million and £23million for the nine-cap Brazil international.

However, it is understood that Arsenal are willing to pay up to £25million for the former Manchester City man as they look to strike a deal ahead of the fast-approaching deadline.

The north Londoners have upped the ante less than 24 hours after Luiz scored directly from a corner as Villa suffered a 2-1 defeat to his suitors at the Emirates Stadium.

There are doubts over the central midfielder’s long-term future as his Villa Park contract, which is worth £52,000-per-week, has less than 12 months to run.

What has Michael Bridge said about Luiz?

Despite being frustrated in their attempts to sign Luiz, Bridge understands that Arsenal have gone back to Villa with a final proposal.

The Sky Sports reporter believes the 24-year-old will only head to north London if the Gunners’ latest offer is accepted as they will not return to the negotiating table.

Bridge told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s now or never for Arsenal. One final bid has gone in for Douglas Luiz.”

Who have Arsenal signed so far?

Arsenal’s first major purchase of the summer came in the form of a £34m swoop for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Fabio Vieira, but the spending didn’t stop there.

The north London club quickly followed up with deals for Manchester City duo Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko, both of whom have cemented themselves in the starting line-up.

Arsenal also welcomed the arrival of goalkeeper Matt Turner, after a deal was agreed with Major League Soccer franchise New England Revolution in February, and landed teenager Marquinhos from Sao Paulo.

It has left Arteta with a squad boasting both improved starting XI quality and much better depth, especially with promising young defender William Saliba staying at the Emirates after spending last season out on loan at Marseille.
