‘Probably his best game of the season’: Media comments on £70k-a-week Arsenal star display today

Arsenal made it four Premier League wins in a row on Saturday as they beat Fulham 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

It was far from easy for the Gunners though – they had to come from behind to overcome their London rivals.

Arsenal had the lion’s share of possession in the first half, but couldn’t get on the scoresheet.

Then, in the 56th minute, Aleksandar Mitrovic was effectively gifted a goal by Gabriel Magalhaes.

The Fulham ace dispossessed the hesitating Arsenal defender and rolled the ball into the bottom corner.

Arsenal were only behind for eight minutes as Martin Odegaard equalised with a heavily-deflected effort.

And then, on 86 minutes, Gabriel redeemed himself with a winner from close range.

While the likes of Odegaard and Gabriel Jesus stood out, Bukayo Saka also earned praise from some media outlets. rated him 7/10, writing: “Probably his best game of the season even if he couldn’t impact via a goal.

“Caused problems with his directness and could have scored in the first half but for a good save from Leno.”

Meanwhile, 90Min went with 6/10 and also noted the £70,000-a-week star played better than in previous weeks.

“Much more involved compared to weeks gone by, Saka linked up with Odegaard brilliantly,” they wrote.

The Evening Standard and the Daily Express were a little more critical, however.

The former gave Saka 6/10 and wrote: Still doesn’t look at his best and he had a frustrating afternoon.

“Missed a golden chance in the first-half, but did assist Odegaard’s goal.”

Meanwhile, the latter also went with 6/10, adding: “Relatively quiet game from the England international largely due to Antonee Robinson frustrating him throughout.”
