The hope of Jackie Groenen still being a United player in September is fading fast as PSG look to close in on a deal.
RMC Sport say that PSG already have an agreement with the player who is keen to leave but that Manchester United aren’t willing to let her go.
Groenen has a year left on her contract, if United dig their heels in, they may end up losing her at the end of next season anyway on a free transfer.
The Dutch international joined the Reds in 2019 and has been a vital part of United’s midfield over the past few seasons.
Groenen has been linked to PSG previously in this transfer window but talks are set to intensify in the coming days as the Parisian side urgently seeks reinforcements.
Aminata Diallo, Lea Khelifi, Sara Dabritz and Luana all left PSG this summer as their contracts expired so Groenen would be an integral part of the side’s rebuild.
The French club have also been linked with Sarah Bouhaddi and Berglind Thorvaldsdottir.
Groenen, who was a part of the Netherlands side who won the 2017 Euros, has been called up again for her country in the upcoming World cup qualifiers.
United are unwilling to do a deal at this late stage in the transfer window it seems but things could change in the coming days.
The Reds are trying to avoid a mass exodus as Alessia Russo refuses to sign a new contract and Ona Batlle is also rumoured to be unhappy at the club.
Meanwhile, the Reds have made some promising signings with the likes of Lucia Garcia and Nikita Parris already making an impact for the club.
It may be that Groenen stays at the club and United review the situation in the January window. Perhaps United are hoping to convince the midfielder to stay if the Reds get Champions League football next season.
