Report: ‘Incredible’ player really wanted to join Arsenal, but bid never came

CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs has reported on Twitter that Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans really wanted to move to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that Tielemans was keen on playing for Arsenal.

However, the Gunners did not make any bid for the Belgium international midfielder in the summer transfer window, according to Jacobs.

YOURI TIELEMANS WANTED TO JOIN ARSENAL FROM LEICESTER CITY

WHAT NOW?

In our opinion, Youri Tielemans could get his move to Arsenal in the January transfer window or next summer.

The 25-year-old midfielder is out of contract at the Foxes at the end of the season.

So, if the former AS Monaco star does not sign a new deal, then Leicester will lose him on a free transfer next summer.

Arsenal could take advantage of that situation and make a bid for Tielemans in the January transfer window.

Or the Gunners could wait until next summer and secure the midfielder’s services on a free.

ESPN reported this week that Leicester were looking for £40 million for Tielemans – described as “an incredible talent” by former Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson on Sky Sports News (12:59pm, October 23, 2021) – this summer.

Arsenal were never going to pay that much for a player who is out of contract next summer.
