Richard Arnold & John Murtough spotted in Barcelona amid Man Utd interest in Frenkie de Jong

Manchester United chief executive Richard Arnold and football director John Murtough have been spotted in Barcelona amid transfer interest in Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

United have made De Jong their primary summer transfer target, and while they have agreed a base fee with Barcelona for the transfer of the 25-year-old, the deal has stalled in recent weeks due to Barcelona owing £17m in deferred wages to the player, after he agreed to such measures during the COVID pandemic.

90min outlined the issues holding the deal up on Monday, and established that despite reports to the contrary in recent days, De Jong is still open to moving to Old Trafford.

Suggestions a deal is still being worked on have had a very public boost on Monday afternoon, as images of Murtough and Arnold meeting Barcelona officials emerged on social media.
