‘Special’: Kieran Tierney says one Arsenal player is far better than Saka or Jesus in training

Speaking on Goal’s YouTube channel, Kieran Tierney has, perhaps surprisingly, named Emile Smith Rowe as the best Arsenal player in training.

The Gunners have so many technically gifted footballers on their books, from Bukayo Saka to Gabriel Jesus, but according to Tierney, Smith Rowe is the one that stands out the most at London Colney.

Tierney says that it’s easy to see Smith Rowe’s qualities on the pitch, but when he trains with him every day he can see just how special a player the England international is, praising his ability on the ball and his threat in the final third.

Tierney spoke about Smith Rowe.

“The best player in training would be Emile Smith Rowe, the fans can see how good he is but training with him every day you realise how special he is. He can take the ball under pressure, he can beat a man, he can score goals and he can get assists, so he’s a great player and I love playing with him,” Tierney said.

Smith Rowe may not be one of the first names on the teamsheet at Arsenal, but he’s certainly one of the best players the Gunners have in terms of technical ability.

Indeed, when it comes to close control of a football, there aren’t many in the Premier League on Smith Rowe’s level, while his ability to think quickly on the ball is also second to none.

As we saw in the All or Nothing documentary, Arsenal’s training involves a lot of small-sided games, and that’s where a player like Smith Rowe will truly shine.

The youngster is a special talent and while he’s brilliant on the pitch, we can imagine he’s an absolute joy to watch in training.
