Rio Ferdinand has been singing the praises of Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus, despite the Brazilian ending up on the losing side against Manchester United.
The Brazilian striker was at the heart and soul of all good things Arsenal did in the game and while he didn’t really get too many chances, he was still in fine fettle. On another day, the former City man gets his goal and Arsenal fans will be encouraged by him once more.
And speaking about the game yesterday, former Man United defender Ferdinand said that Jesus is deceptively strong, as he compared him to a former teammate.
“He was a nuisance. I remember what John Stones told me about him, I asked him about Jesus when he’d been at City for a few months and he said ‘Rio, he’s a really good player, he’ll score goals but I can’t believe how strong he is’,” Ferdinand said on his FIVE YouTube channel.
“The guy is like Patrice Evra, they look small but they’re absolutely like little beasts. He looks like that. He was rag dolling Varane at times, same with Martinez. First minute of the game Martinez knew he was in the game cos he rattled him with one. I thought he was really good up until the end product area.”
Our View: Jesus Getting Better And Better
It’s a frightening thought for the rest of the league but Gabriel Jesus really does look like he is getting better by the game in an Arsenal shirt.
His touch, strength, and knowledge of how to lead the line shone through yesterday and the goals will start flowing soon for Jesus as Arsenal improve more and more.
Make no mistake, Arsenal have pulled off a masterstroke in signing Gabriel Jesus and United’s defenders will be glad to see the back of him for now.
