Tottenham appoint Gretar Steinsson as new performance director

Tottenham have appointed ex-Bolton defender Gretar Steinsson as their new performance director.

Steinsson has previously served as Everton’s head of recruitment and development and most recently worked as a technical advisor for the Icelandic FA in his home country.

The former right-back’s playing career spanned Iceland, Switzerland, Netherlands, Turkey and England, where he spent four seasons with the Trotters.

Steinsson had spent four seasons in his backroom role with Everton before quitting the club in December last year following director of football Marcel Brands’ departure.

It had been reported that managing director of football Fabio Paratici had been on the lookout for new additions to his staff, and it seems the Italian has got his man.
