The first of the Euro 2022 finalists will be determined on Tuesday evening, as England take on Sweden at Bramall Lane.

Hosts England have impressed this summer after topping their group and edging past Spain in extra time in the quarter finals. The Lionesses will be looking to book their place in their first major tournament final since 2009, having fallen at the semi final stage three tournaments on the trot.

They face a Sweden side considered the pre-tournament favourites by many. Peter Gerhardsson’s side headed to Euro 2022 as the competition’s highest ranked side and with an Olympic silver medal in their pocket from last summer. However, they’re yet to hit top gear – will they find their groove on Tuesday evening?

When is kick off? Tuesday 26 July, 20:00 (BST)
Where is the match being played? Bramall Lane, Sheffield
TV channel/livestream? BBC One (UK)
What time does coverage start? 19:25 (BST)

All 23 England players trained on Monday morning ahead of Tuesday evening’s clash – including goalkeeper Hannah Hampton, who has returned to the squad after missing the victory over Spain due to a positive Covid-19 test.

Sarina Wiegman has consistently named an unchanged side for all of England’s Euro 2022 outings thus far, before introducing impact substitutes to great affect – will she stick or twist or Tuesday evening? Alex Greenwood coming in for Rachel Daly seems the most plausible alteration to the XI.

Hanna Glas and Emma Kullberg have returned to training for Sweden, having missed their country’s quarter final victory over Belgium. Caroline Seger was also back in training after struggling with a heel injury.

Jonna Andersson and Olivia Schough are doubts, after the pair were both absent from Sweden’s training session on Monday.

England (4-3-3): Earps; Bronze, Williamson, Bright, Greenwood; Walsh, Stanway, Kirby; Mead, White, Hemp.

Sweden (4-3-3): Lindahl; Ilestedt, Sembrant, Eriksson, Nilden; Bjorn, Angeldahl, Asllani; Rytting Kaneryd, Blackstenius, Rolfo.

Big things were expected from Sweden this summer, but – their comfortable group stage victory over Portugal aside – they are yet to look quite their best at Euro 2022.

England were made to sweat against Spain but demonstrated their grit to come from a goal behind and emerge victorious. Tuesday evening promises to be another tense, tight, nervy encounter.

The battle between Keira Walsh and Kosovare Asllani, two of the tournament’s start performers, should be enthralling. Given the form England are in and the different facets that they have demonstrated this summer, they could just edge it.

Prediction: England 2-1 Sweden
