US Colleges and Universities that offer Scholarships for International Students

Studying in the United States can be costly, especially for international students. Many US colleges and universities, on the other hand, provide scholarships and financial aid to help offset the cost of tuition and living expenses. Here are some of the colleges and universities in the United States that provide scholarships to international students:

1. American University Scholarships

American University (AU) offers a limited number of generous partial merit scholarships to academically qualified international first-year undergraduate students from around the world. International students are not eligible for need-based financial aid. Merit scholarships range in value from $6,000 to $25,000 per academic year (renewable subject to conditions).

Also see the AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship Program, which provides financial assistance to high-achieving international students who wish to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree at the University and are committed to positive civic and social change. It is designed for students who plan to return home to help under-resourced and under-served communities in their home country.

2. Amherst College Scholarships

Amherst College currently operates a need-based financial aid program for financially needy international students. Your financial need is determined once you have been admitted. A financial aid award equal to your need will then be made available. The award is sometimes referred to as a “aid package” because it may include self-help (employment) as well as gift aid (scholarships and grants).

Berea College Scholarships

Berea College is the only school in the United States that provides full funding to all enrolled international students during their first year. This combination of financial aid and scholarships helps to cover the costs of tuition, room, and board. International students are expected to save $1,000 (US) per year in subsequent years to contribute to their expenses. International students are given summer jobs at the College in order to fulfill this requirement.

Clark University Scholarships

Clark University’s Clark Global Scholars Program is open to first-year applicants (not transfer students) who have attended school abroad for at least four years, as well as international citizens studying in the United States. The award includes a scholarship of $15,000 to $25,000 per year (for four years, subject to meeting academic standards for renewal) as well as a guaranteed $2,500 taxable stipend for a paid internship or research assistantship taken for academic credit during the summer following your sophomore or junior year.

Colby-Sawyer College Scholarships
