‘Very serious’: Rio Ferdinand shocked by one Arsenal player this season

Rio Ferdinand has said on his YouTube channel that he has been surprised by how serious Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus is about his football.

The former Manchester United star made the comments about Jesus while analysing his performance for Arsenal against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium this past weekend.

The Brazil international striker was a constant problem for the Liverpool defenders, as Arsenal won the Premier League game in North London 3-2.

Ferdinand has said that when he spoke to Jesus for a BT Sports interview recently, he was shocked by how serious Jesus is about his football.

The pundit added that he was surprised when the former Manchester City striker told him that he is not going out in London.

RIO FERDINAND ON ARSENAL STRIKER GABRIEL JESUS

Ferdinand said, as transcribed by TheBootRoom: “I was genuinely, maybe surprised. I didn’t expect to get what I got out of him.

“For example, I said to him, ‘You’re in London now, are you enjoying London?’ And he went, ‘No, no, I live 15-20 minutes from the training ground’.

“That was deadpan serious.

“I went: ‘Okay, so you’ve been in London, what restaurants have you been to, bars or anything like that?’ ‘No, I’ve not been to London yet’.

“And from that moment, I just looked at him differently and thought yes, this is what I want for my striker to be like.

“Not that he’s not gone into London, not gone anywhere, but what he showed me was that he’s serious about his football. Very serious about his football.”

GOOD ATTITUDE

In our view, Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus appears to have a very good attitude towards the game.

He seems to be a very mature player who knows that at this stage of his career, he has to focus on his football

Jesus joined Arsenal in the summer transfer window, and he has realised that he has to make a good impression at the club and make an instant impact.

And he is doing just that.

Jesus was an impact player during his time at Manchester City, but the Brazilian is the number one striker at Arsenal now.
