After struggling to break down Sevilla’s defense in the first 45 minutes, Barcelona came back strong in the second half and demolished Sevilla with 3 goals without any reply.
All three goals exuded class and teamwork, demonstrating the strengths of Catalonia’s burgeoning team. Raphinha and Jordi Alba each had a goal and an assist, and the third goal was set up by a beautiful Gavi run.
Every player in the garnet-and-blue produced a memorable performance, some more than others, but Jordi Alba was outstanding throughout the game.
Jordi Alba, who was constantly looking for crosses, was one of Barcelona’s most frequently used weapons in breaking down Sevilla’s defense. Heavily involved in the buildup with Gavi in small combinations, but solid in defense.
Jordi Alba’s cool finish from close range gave Barcelona the lead in the 58th minute. Alba scored in the far corner after picking the ball up from Kessie after a well-timed run behind the defense.
Alba received the ball from de Jong in the 79th minute and laid it across the face of the goal for Raphinha to tuck in. Watch his wonderful performance below:
